In 1991, Wing Zone founders Matt Friedman and Adam Scott noticed that pizza was the only delivery choice near the University of Florida. This prompted them to conceive Wing Zone in a fraternity house kitchen. With a $500 investment for a phone line and printed flyers, their business was born. Within the first week, Wing Zone was a hit.

Three weeks later, their first Wing Zone storefront opened near the University of Florida. The business boomed. After graduation, Friedman and Scott opened a second location in Gainesville and then expanded to Tallahassee FL, Atlanta GA, Athens GA, and Columbia SC. Each locale enjoyed instant success.

With six stores up and running, the WZ Franchise Corporation was founded. In 1999, the founders moved to their Atlanta headquarters to share their business opportunity with other entrepreneurs.

Today, Wings are the thing! Wing Zone has been named to the Inc. Magazine' 500 fastest-growing private companies in the country. Success Magazine placed Wing Zone in its "Gold 200," ranking the company in the top 25 restaurant franchises.
